Let’s talk about self-care. It’s so easy to put yourself last when you’re busy taking care of your family, running errands, and working. But taking care of yourself is crucial for your well-being. Plus, when you look good, you feel good!
So what is self-care? It’s all about doing things that make you feel good, physically and mentally. Think exercise, healthy eating, meditation, skin care, getting ready for yourself, relaxation techniques, and I mean the list really can go on. When you take care of yourself, you reduce stress, prevent burnout, and improve your overall health.
Now, here’s the fun part for me. When I look good, I feel good too. Putting in the effort to look put together has a major impact on my mood, and I know I’m not the only one. There’s something about when you feel confident and ready to take on the day, you have more energy to tackle your to-do list.
But we know it can be tough to fit in self-care when you’re busy. Here are some tips to help you make it happen:
- Schedule it in: Put self-care time in your calendar, just like you would with any other appointment.
- Start small: You don’t have to dedicate hours to self-care. Start with small things like taking a quick walk, doing a bible study, or committing to a morning and evening skincare routine (this one was the game changer for me).
- Get your family involved: Self-care can be a family affair! Go for a walk, a hike, pray or meditate, paint, draw, or cook a healthy meal together. Teach your kids how important you prioritize self care so it’s not something they have to learn when they are older too.
- Treat yourself: Buy yourself something special, get that skincare you’ve been eyeing, schedule that nail appointment, or book a massage. You do some much for everyone else. You deserve it, mama!
Remember, self-care is not selfish. When you take care of yourself, you are better able to take care of your family. When you feel good about yourself, you will radiate that energy outward and feel more confident in your ability to meet the challenges of motherhood. So go ahead and take some time for yourself. You’ve got this!
